Some Updates

My little girl is growing up so quickly and we are having so much fun being a part of it. She does something new everyday! She rolls all over the floor and rolls the ball (and every other toy she can) back and forth with us. She is in constant movement, SERIOUSLY!!! We had to go to the doctor today because she has an ingrown toenail that looked infected, and even the doctor made a comment about her constant movement. I asked her about how much I should be feeding her and she said "until Sydney tells you she's done". I told her that she has quite an appetite and the doctor said she needed the extra calories to keep up with her activity level! She now weighs 20 pounds and has three top teeth and two bottom...very cute! She still breast feeds 4-6 times a day and eats solids and several finger foods. She's doing awesome!

Sydney loves to "flirt" with people when we are out and about...especially older ladies. She loves the attention (takes after her daddy on that one)!!! Two Leo's in the house...I am in major trouble!

She talks all of the time now. It's so cute!!! She has also learned how to remove her diaper, not so cute!! When I checked on her at nap time today, she had removed her diaper. Thank gosh for water proof pads!!

So many things to tell about but so little time. For now, enjoy the pictures!!

This is one of her favorite toys right now. It's from GAP (great aunt Peggy) and it says "You are my little luv bug".
This is a new toy we got her last weekend. She loves it but we don't let her play with the yellow thing anymore because she shoves it way too far into her mouth!!
We go for a walk every night before dinner. We live off of a gorgeous golf course and when the sun sets, it's amazing. We will miss this view when we move.

This of course is the golf course.

This is a view of some mountains you see from our upstairs deck. It's even more amazing when the sun rises in the morning.

Sydney learned how to get into the toy box and pull everything out!

8 Months Old!!!

Eight months old...holy cow!!! The time goes by so quickly now as compared to when she was 1 month old! I hope everyone got their pictures of Sydney by now!
Sydney does so many funny things right now. Greg and I find ourselves laughing with her all of the time. Like just a few minutes ago, as I was feeding her lunch, I had a laugh attack. Apparently, she does not like the summer vegetable entree that was offered. The faces she made were indescribable!! Also, she sneezed just as I gave her a bite. Needless to say, I had summer vegetables all over me (and I have to agree with her on the taste)!

Lets see, what else...
She talks all of the time. Her new thing is to talk without moving her lips. Very clever! She now rolls from back to tummy all of the time, especially in her sleep. We always get a good laugh when we check in on her throughout the night and during nap time. In fact, a few of the pictures below are of how she chose to take a nap today! Very cute!
I need to start writing things down more so when I finally do get a chance to blog, I can remember what to write!! For now, enjoy the pictures below...

We never quite know what we'll see when we check on sleeping Sydney!!

Todays naptime position...

She now eats finger foods for snacks throughout the day!!!

Yummy!!!

Now that she has two bottom teeth and two top teeth, she loves to chomp down on them and make noise!!

New discoveries...she had a blast playing with her "new toys" yesterday!

A Night Out

Greg and I had our 2nd night out last night. Nana came over to babysit while Mommy and Daddy went to a wedding. It was really the first time I have dressed up in probably over a year or more. I felt so awkward in a dress, heels, and jewelry! And to think, I used to dress up every weekend before I was pregnant and Sydney arrived!

The wedding was very small and intimate, outside by a beautiful little lake with ducks and all. Speaking of ducks, one of the ducks apparently wanted a little attention and became quite loud during the ceremony. It started to become a little aggressive and approached all of us. I ended up having a little laugh attack because I thought the duck was going to attack Jamie and I. Any ways, the ceremony was short and sweet and the bride was beautiful. We then went inside for the reception. I had to leave before the food was served to come home and nurse and put Sydney to sleep (since she still will not take a bottle!!!) and then go back to the wedding reception. When I returned to the reception, they were kind enough to serve Greg and I our food. I stayed for a couple glasses of wine and then returned home to relive Nana of her Sydney duties! Daddy on the other hand stayed out quite late (I am sure he will regret this when he wakes up today)! Sydney has been doing so well with sleeping through the night, but wouldn't you know...the night that Mommy stays up later, Sydney decides to get up numerous times throughout the night and then wake up at 5:30am!!! Needless to say, I am very tired this morning and will definitely be taking a nap when daddy wakes up!!

All in all, our first night out with friends was good. At first I felt a little envious that I couldn't go out with everyone after the wedding as Daddy did, but once I was up with my little one this morning, playing with her and getting all of her precious hugs, I realized, this is what is most important to me right now and a late night out with friends can wait!!!

I really love being Sydney's Mommy!!!

Big Girl!!

As you can probably tell by her pictures, Sydney is a good eater. She eats solids three times a day and then breastfeeds in between and also breastfeeds when she wakes up and before bed. She definitely doesn't miss any meals! She loves her high chair as it is the same theme as her crib mobile and her jumper. During her solids she will frequently take a moment in between bites to check in with "froggy" or "birdie" - see below!

Another sign that Sydney is growing up...she no longer needs the plastic bathtub. She can now balance herself well, therefore, she can sit up alone in the big kitchen sink!! She is very proud of this as you can see below!!! She could probably sit in the big bath tub but Mommy's back is not ready for that yet!!

All smiles after bath time!

7 month old Pictures

Sydney has changed so much over the last couple of weeks. She is really starting to find her voice and is quite funny when she starts babbling. Her first word was "Mama" and now her second word is "Babababa..." I have been trying to teach her "Dada" because I know it will melt daddy's heart when she says it!

She is getting closer to crawling. Yesterday she was scooting around...backwards!!! She was getting so frustrated. She wanted to move forward but just couldn't quite get there! She is doing much better in her stroller and I may soon be able to get back to the stroller strides exercise program.

About 3 weeks ago, I took Sydney to get a professional picture taken while she was still all smiles. As soon as I sat her down, she cried and couldn't get herself calmed down, so we left. Greg and I took her a 2nd time and again no success. Not giving up on my little one, we took her back a 3rd time. Although we didn't get smiles, we did get some very cute expressions. Here are two of the three shots that we purchased:

Sydney's Easter dress. Oh look, for once Daddy managed to get Mommy's head in the picture!!

Updates

We had a very nice Easter with family this year. Sydney had a beautiful Easter dress and hopefully I will have some extra time tomorrow to download some pictures. The weather has been amazing here so we have been spending time each day in the jogging stroller - good for mommy and Sydney! Greg and I had our first date night last night since Sydney was born. After we put her to bed, Nana and Aunt Arlene looked after her while Greg and I went out for sushi!! The tuna sushi was like a piece of Heaven! Oh yeah, and being alone with Greg was also super nice!!! By 9:30 pm I was pooped and ready for bed!

Today was a very lazy day for Sydney and I. She was in only a diaper all day (she was too warm to wear clothes) and I stayed in my "Mommy uniform" all day. I did manage to brush my teeth later in the afternoon!! Sydney was very clingy and drooling a lot so I took a look into her mouth and found that she has two more teeth that cut through. Strange, usually kids get the two bottom center incisors, then the top two...not Sydney! She started with the bottom center teeth over a month ago and now, instead of the two front teeth, she's got the two next to those coming in. Sorry, I just don't have the appropriate vocab. for all of the teeth yet. I will do my research!
Any ways, we had to skip her bath tonight because she was extremely tired and running a little fever from the teething. She was out the moment I put her in her crib. Hopefully it will be an all nighter again for her.

I think she will be crawling around soon. When we do floor time, she can kind of get up on her knees and rock a little - with some assistance. It will be cute to see her crawl but I know that it will mean a whole lot more work for Mommy! I am just so amazed as I watch her everyday learn knew things and explore her body and what it is capable of doing. I am so grateful to be able to stay home with her and to get many hugs and kisses any time I want. I seriously just cannot get enough of her!! I went to a bridal shower for a few hours on Sat. and felt so "naked" not having her with me. I thought of her the whole time and even pulled out the pictures to show her off!!! She's amazing!

Pictures coming soon!
