Holy Poop!!!

So yesterday early afternoon I was talking to Greg on the phone. Sydney was in her pink chair facing me and started another daily explosive poop. I was waiting for her to finish. I was mid sentence with Greg when I looked over at Sydney as saw that her poop was bubbling over the top of her diaper onto her belly and out through the sides all over her pink chair. I said in a state of panic to Greg, "Holy Poop" and quickly hung up!! How the heck was I going to get her from her chair to the changing table without getting poop all over everything, including myself, while at the same time, holding her hands out of the way from getting anymore poop on them? Oofta!!

Moving on...Sydney's body temp. is always very hot. I cannot put anything on her but a diaper during the day and even then she will get too hot and gets a little rash. All those cute little newborn outfits that I will never get to put on her!

Last night was a tough one again. Seems to be the pattern around here...a couple good nights and then a couple rough ones! She was up several times throughout the night. I finally had to wake Greg up around 2am so he could hold her while I ran downstairs to get some warm Gripe Water (it's a pain in the butt to do this at night because the Gripe Water has to be kept in the fridge and then I have to warm it before giving it to her). Any ways, I had Greg hold her while I served it to her. This is a long process because if you give her too much at once she chokes! And of course, she choked. I was so delirious from lack of sleep and panic due to the choking that I called Sydney "Zoey" (our dogs name)!! I know Greg will never let me forget that one as Sydney gets older!

Well, today is Greg's day off of work which means I have a little time to get things done! Have a good weekend.

Proud Mommy

It's still Wed., I just put Sydney to bed and had to write a quick note. She has been cooing and making noises for quite awhile now but today was really a turning point for her. She was really trying to talk to me. It was soooo cute!! She would make all of these silly expressions like she was trying to find the right words to say and then all of a sudden she would just explode with babble! I was so proud of her! It's just so amazing to watch her develop her knew skills.

Earlier today she had an explosive poop (Paul, I know you love the poop talk)! When she started her poop I left her be for a moment so she could finish. When I came back to her I about died...all she had on was a diaper and she pooped so much that it somehow splashed up onto her chest and shoulder, just missing her face. Thank gosh Jordan was home. I called up to him to quickly bring me some wipes so the poop didn't get anywhere else. When I asked him to wipe the splashes off her chest and arm while I held her down, I thought he was going to have a panic attack!! He was very helpful!

Updates

(Monday) I am going to attempt to start an entry and see if I can actually finish it in one setting...

Sydney is in her swing right now. I am attempting to get her to take a nap. She was very kind to her Mommy this morning and we were able to take a nap together. It was much needed since she has been keeping us awake much of the nights the last few days. I am not sure what is going on with her, I think it's gas or stomach disturbances but it's hard to tell. She is ALWAYS really gassy during late night feedings and first thing in the mornings. The gas drops are not really an option because they constipate her which only adds to the problem...

interruption number one...she is already crying...post to be continued...

(Monday night) Okay, I am back. I just put Sydney down to bed for the night. I am attempting to put her to bed earlier tonight and gave her some Gripe Water to relax her tummy. We will see if that works!

(Wednesday)! Wow, Wed. already! We are going to go purchase a baby monitor today. I want to try a new routine with Sydney and try to get her to take her naps in her bed during the day. Currently, the only way she will take a long nap is if we hold her on our chests. Although extremely cute, this gets difficult because I can't do anything...like go to the bathroom!! Her bedroom is upstairs so I really need a monitor if I am going to have her sleep up there by herself. I have to admit, this decision is difficult because when she is asleep on my chest I feel so connected to her. Watching her sleep brings on such powerful emotions to me. All of the emotional turmoil we went through to have our lil' Sydney was all worth it.

She was sooo cute during her 4am feeding this morning. She was in a playful mood and kept looking up at me during her feeding and smiling really big, gums and all!! Of course I just had to interrupt her feeding and play with her...who could resist that cute face!

She is doing much better with tummy time and is getting much stronger. Her legs are VERY strong! She now understands what "SO BIG" means and if you say it to her during play time, she will lift her arms and smile. Greg and I wait eagerly for her first giggle. At this point she does this cute little giggle when she first falls asleep but she has yet to do it when she is awake!

She went to her first soccer game on Sat. Daddy was already waiting for us at the game when Sydney and I arrived. Of course, proud daddy had already announced to everyone that his daughter was coming to the game so the parents where quite eager to meet her. Daddy held her the whole second half and then it got too warm so we had to leave. She cried (screamed) all the way home!

Alright, well she is waking up again and crying. I will just post this already!

6 Week Updates

It's so hard to find time to keep up on my blog now. Sydney is going through this phase where I cannot put her down and she isn't happy in her swing or her papasan chair...this makes it very difficult to get ANYTHING done! I have a carrier that I use but I have to keep moving when she is in it or she cries! I started this post on Monday and it is now Friday!!!
Sydney has discovered all of the fun and exciting things she can do with her tongue! We went on a walk and the whole time she kept playing around with her tongue, it was very cute! She has also discovered her fist and fingers and will often suck on them.
She has now developed a scream...not just a cry, but a scream... that she uses to let me know when I am not meeting her need to be fed fast enough. In her mind it's, "Baby gets what baby wants, NOW!" She screamed so loud at me the other night at 2 am. Greg came flying into the baby room to see what was wrong. He thought there was some emergency. Well, there was in Sydney's eyes, she needed food!
She smiles now when we play with her. She likes Peek-a-boo and she LOVES to dance to 80's music!! We have the station on all of the time now and we hold her and dance. She doesn't like to be held in just any old way either. Sydney is also finding her voice with lots of coos and cute noises. And she has also discovered her arms. She is constantly bonking herself in the face with them.
Daddy has named Sydney as the World's Loudest Sleeper!! Oh my gosh, she is so noisy when she sleeps that we hardly get any sleep!! I am constantly looking in at her bassinet to make sure she is still sleeping, which means I am NOT sleeping!! She gets up only 2 times throughout the night now, not bad!
Mommy and Sydney dancing to 80's music. Notice how she just has to have her head tilted back!! This is her favorite way to be held!

A close-up of her dancing face!

Here she is at 6 weeks old!!Here she is waving at Nana and Pap after her bath!!

Throughout each day, I think of all of these things I want to write about and then when I actually get a minute to blog...I forget!

Let's see...

Well, Sydney slept for 6 hours straight on Wed. night and 5 hours straight last night. I love it, however, I kept waking up to make sure she was breathing!

I took Sydney for a walk early last evening. It was great until out of no where a wind and rain storm came thru. I had no choice but to run. Then it hit me, I am running with a stroller with an infant in it! In my head this voice said, "Oh my God, you are a horrible mommy...you are running and the stroller is shaking and you probably just caused baby shaken syndrome!!" I freaked! I quickly checked in on her (I had the visor covering her due to the rain) and her eyes were wide open. I thought, "Oh dear Lord, I've killed my sweet Sydney!!! Then she saw me and smiled!! "Oh thank you God, she's not dead!"

A very sad thought crossed my mind as I was in the shower today. Sydney is almost 6 weeks old. Many of my friends have had to return to work after 6 weeks of maternity leave. I feel so sad for all of you, it must have been so hard! I just cannot imagine leaving her at daycare at this age. Maternity leave should definitely be longer. I am so sorry all of you moms had to endure that separation and stress!

Well, I can't remember what else it was that I wanted to write about. If I think of it, I'll be back!

Quick Update

Sydney is taking one of her very short naps so I only have a minute to write. On Monday, we took a field trip to the mall with Jamie and her kids. We were there walking and talking for about 3 hours. Sydney took a bottle from me while we were there, it was great. She also proceeded to have a poop explosion and poop all over her new pink outfit. Thank goodness for family changing rooms!

On Tuesday, Sydney again denied the bottle and was very upset at me for even thinking of giving it to her! We will try again later this week. We didn't get out for too long yesterday because Sydney was in a mood and the only thing that made her happy was sleeping on my chest. I didn't mind too much!

This morning She really gave me a scare. As I was giving her Gripe Water for gas, she began choking (which she does at least once a day when she eats); however, this choking was much more serious and she turned completely red and her legs went limb. I had to flip her over on my arm and hit her back a few times. She pulled it together and became very quiet and then fell asleep while Mommy took some deep breaths!! It was horrible!

Well, there she is, up from her nap. The neighbors can hear when she wakes up from naps!

Ahhhh.....

Sydney had a great day yesterday!! She played and napped and didn't have any gas problems! Mommy was able to clean, do some scrapping and journal in Sydney's baby books, and cook a nice dinner. To top off a great day, after dinner, Mommy got to take her long waiting hot bubble bath, read, and have a small glass of red wine...ahhhh!! And the topper...at 9pm we gave Sydney her bath, fed and rocked her and put her to bed. She slept a full 5 HOURS!!! I actually had to wake her up to feed her because of my breasts!!! She then went back to sleep until 6am. What an amazing gift!!!

Below are some pictures taken over the last two days!

This is her interactive floor toy that we play with everyday and use it for tummy time also. She is looking up at herself in a mirror!
